I originally wanted to do an Amity Insamity birthday recap closer to my birthday in January but that month dragged ass and my motivation has wavered.

There is not much to say these days. There is a lot of pain in the world and some days it feels like way too much. But anytime I see one of you out here IRL you always tell me how much you enjoy my substack and my Instagram so I persist with steadfast love and joy to offer. It’s all we and I got! LOVE AND JOY AS RESISTANCE!!! Thank you for your love and support it keeps me going!!!

Stop one was high tea at the iconic Plaza Hotel!

Growing up I was entranced by the Eloise books. They planted an early seed of my future NYC life. I brought my bestie Kylie and we had tea and many different small sweet and savory treats with of course tea and champagne!

It was a splurge but one that I have always wanted to do my entire life so completely worth it. The food and service were excellent in my opinion. Funny aside, there was a group next to us and at one point the woman looked over at me and said “are you an Esthetician?” “I follow you on Instagram!” My 15 mins of fame at the Plaza Hotel, tres chic!!!

Later that evening. I had booked a romantic dinner for me and my boo at another place I have always wanted to try, a restaurant in Bed Stuy called Dept of Culture. The food is Nigerian and the tables are set communally. The chef comes out and tells a story before each course. It was a spicy and magical, enchanting dinner and I loved the food and the experience. I made a reservation for the chefs other restaurant Radio Kwara in Clinton Hill for Valentine’s Day. Love.
